Mapping the Landscape
Exhibition catalogue. Eight artists from The Netherlands and Germany allowed themselves to be inspired by the urban and natural landscape in and around Venlo for the project 'Mapping the Landscape'. They looked for typical characteristics of the area and gave their own view on the identity of the region. The artists responded not only to the visible landscape but also the way people use public space, the history of a place or stories attached to it. Mapping the Landscape shows in how many layers the landscape is constructed and what factors affect the character or the perception thereof. The design of the exhibition and catalogue captures the atmosphere of 'work in progress'. The landscape is never finished; it is always in transition…
